Academics
It is the policy of Lippitt Elementary School to place students in balanced classes. We consider various factors, such as the child’s gender, social/emotional development, academic level, developmental level, cognitive abilities, learning style, work habits, individual needs, school behaviors, peer relationships, class size, and cultural diversity, to create an appropriate match between student and teacher.
Placement decisions involve a collaborative team of faculty and staff, including the principal, current grade level teacher, literacy coach/reading specialist, and special education personnel if appropriate.
While parents/guardians are encouraged to share their child’s special learning needs, requests for a specific teacher are discouraged.
